Barges Hits Ferry in Holyhead Harbor

Maritime Activity Reports, Inc.

February 4, 2015

A Stena Line ferry, Stena Nordica, has been taken out of service after suffering damage when a barge collided with its hull Sunday while berthed in Holyhead harbor on Anglesey, BBC reported.

Crew and passengers were reportedly on the ferry at the time of the collision, though no injuries were reported.

Stena hopes the ferry, which sails between Holyhead and Dublin, will return to service Thursday after undergoing repair.

The Marine Accident and Investigation Branch (MAIB) is in the process of gathering information and will decide whether it will investigate.
