A working group of the Merchant Marine Personnel Advisory Committee(MERPAC), sponsored by the U.S. Coast Guard, will meet in Washington, D.C. on June 18, 2002 to discuss the task statement concerning the minimum standard of competence in security necessary for a ship's security officer and crew.
